A fierce advocate

No wonder her name is grafted on the walls in Los Angeles county jail

Azar Elihu has been in practice since 1999. She has saved many defendants from criminal convictions and long sentences.  She has also handled complex civil litigation, some real estate, unlawful detainer, family law, immigration, employment law, personal injury. . . .

Elihu has conducted many jury trials, argued hundreds of motions and achieved many victories.  She has successfully dismissed felony cases after defendants’ previous attorneys failed them.

Her clients are satisfied regardless of  the outcome of their cases.  For Elihu, victories are markers of her zealous advocacy and dedications to individual defendant.

Her passion to help others extends to everyone and to indigent defendants. Elihu would step in to avoid miscarriage of justice whenever time and budget afford her.

As a fierce advocate for individuals inside and outside of jail, Elihu has been a true champion of defendants’ rights. Her enduring spirit to take the fight against a justice system that awards prosecutors for scoring convictions over quest for truth and justice started in law school and continues on today across the state.

Elihu’s articles published in leading legal periodicals receive rave judicial and peers reviews.

The State Bar of California Fee Disputes Service and Los Angeles County Bar http://lacba.org/ invited Elihu to join their Dispute Resolution Services. She volunteers her time serving as an arbitrator to resolve fee disputes primarily between criminal defendants and their former lawyers.  She has also volunteered with Women Lawyer Association- Jail Project, Volunteers In Parole, Unlawful Detainer-Equal Access.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, she’s worked as a chemist in the pharmaceutical industry and as a Research Associate at UCLA Research Lab-Inorganic Chemistry department before pursuing law school.

In her free time, she follows up with the new case law and current events, visits art galleries, paints. . .
